Combustible Dust Safety Free Seminars Continuing
Georgia Tech's OSHA Consultation Program continues to offer a free one-day course in "Combustible Dust-Free Safety Training" at different locations. Offerings are upcoming in Gulfport, MS, on March 25 and Savannah, GA, on April 11. To get more information about the training and these upcoming events, click here. Additional offerings are being added often, so please check back at this site periodically.

Course Available in Residential Renovation and Remodeling Hazards
The Georgia Tech Occupational Safety & Health Program has completed an English/Spanish language training package in the Safety and Health Hazards of Residential Renovation and Remodeling. This site offers access to a web course and electronic versions of training materials for classroom presentation. The project to develop this package was sponsored by the OSHA Susan Harwood grant program.
Answers to Trainers' Questions Provided

New Techguides and Publications Published on Web
A variety of new techguides and publications are now online for downloading. Topics for the new techguides are: emergency response and emergency action plan, fall protection in the steel erection industry, lead exposure in renovation and remodeling, teen workers: rights and responsibilities, and woodworking. The new publication is on funeral home safety and health compliance assistance.
Ergonomics Training Resources for Poultry Industry Available
The Georgia Tech Safety and Health Consultation Program recently completed a project sponsored by an OSHA Susan Harwood grant to develop training resources for ergonomics safety in the poultry industry. Those resources are now available online.
Concrete Mixer Drum Chipout Training
Georgia Tech has completed a training CD on concrete mixer drum chipout safety, available in English and Spanish. Click here to view the training online. A recent Georgia Tech publication, "Safety and Health Assessment of Two Chicken Processing Plants," is now available in PDF format for downloading from this web site. This report summarizes a study conducted by Georgia Tech with sponsorship by the National Broiler Council.

OSHA Issues Nursing Home Ergonomics Guidelines
OSHA has issued ergonomic guidelines for nursing homes, which are the first of a series of industry-specific ergonomic guidelines developed as part of the agency's four-pronged approach to reduce ergonomic injuries.
The guidelines for the nursing home industry focus on practical recommendations for employers to reduce the number and severity of workplace injuries by using methods found to be successful in the nursing home environment.

Spanish-language training offerings provided by the Georgia Tech Safety and Health Consultation Program are now available from a single page. The newest offering is a collection of training materials intended for construction workers.
