Occupational Safety and Health Certificate Program
Certificate programs are a way of recognizing those individuals who, through training, have received specialized knowledge in a particular area or field. By earning a certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, you:
- Will keep your knowledge of today's changing regulations, guidance documents, and regulatory interpretations up to date.
- May enhance your changes for advancement by demonstrating proficiency and ambition.
- Will network with others who share similar concerns and resolutions.
- Will learn from instructors known nationally and internationally for their knowledge in these and other fields.
- Will continue your professional development in a growing and changing field.
To qualify for the Industrial Safety and Health certificate or the Construction Safety and Health certificate, three core courses and three elective courses will be required. To qualify for both certificates, all five core courses and three elective courses will be required. All courses must be taken from Georgia Tech. OTI 503 Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers
Course 2: OTI 521 OSHA Guide to Industrial Hygiene
Course 3: OTI 2045 Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards
Construction Safety and Health Core:
Course 1 (choose one):
OTI 500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
OTI 510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
OTI 502 Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers
Course 2: OTI 521 OSHA Guide to Industrial Hygiene
Course 3 (choose one)
OTI 3010 Excavation, Trenching and Soil Mechanics
EST 181 Scaffolding Safety
Safety and Health Program Management Certificate:
To quality for the Safety and Health Program Management Certificate, you must take 4 core courses and 3 electives. If you have a certificate in Industrial or Construction Safety and Health from Georgia Tech, the electives and any core courses taken will be waived.
- OTI 7500 Introduction to Safety and Health Management
- EST 194 Advanced Safety Management: Principles and Programs
- EST 205 Training Techniques for Occupational Safety and Health Professionals
- OTI 2250 Principles of Ergonomics Applied to Work-Related Musculoskeletal and Nerve Disorders
Elective Courses

- Hazmat Technician Course (HAZWOPER)
- Crane Safety
- Training Techniques for Occupational and Safety Health Professionals

Any OTI and EST course not used as a core course can be used as an elective.
